ALT Mode or “Alternative Mode”, provides variety in workouts and the ability to use other muscle groups. Using an ALT Mode really helps to keep the workout from getting boring, and once you are comfortable doing ALT Mode at different effort modes, you can choose to intersperse ALT mode as you desire to customize and add variety to any workout to match your own tastes.
Important Note: Remember, you will usually need to increase your resistance slightly just before standing up on a bike, and adjusting the speed on a treadmill. On an elliptical, you will need to come to a stop, before you can go backwards.
BIKE = Off Saddle Standing
TREADMILL = High Knee, Long Strides, or advanced technique is Skipping (with or without high knees)

What is Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and how does it relate to FitSpur’s workout effort modes of EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, ALL OUT?
When doing a cardio workout, it's important to be aware of your effort intensity to make sure you're working at a pace that is challenging enough to help you reach your goals, but is not so hard that you over exert yourself possibly risking injury.
